The Mixw software in combination with rigexpert have a programm called "Teoan.exe" otherwise known as "Eye of a needle" that does exactly what you want: remote control of the transceiver and communications. It works great

Subject: [digitalradio] Digi modes over LAN

Greetings,
I have a friend who is disabled and has a great deal of trouble
getting in and out of the shack.  He was wondering if digi modes could
be worked across a LAN.  I'm thinking maybe so, if the rig computer is
connected to the LAN and the software (like Digipan ) is shared on the
LAN.  So, he could be downstairs on the couch using his laptop and
working PSK through the shack upstairs.. sounds kicky.
I could play with it and see what happens, but I was wondering if
anyone has actually done this and what kind of issues you encountered.
Thanks
Jim K2TL
