Hello to all,
Here is an extract of the help file which explains
how Patrick will connect John (same procedure as in Packet):
- buttons "Connect" and "Disconnect" (for
"connected" mode)
The operator (let's say Patrick) may connect to another Ham (here John) by clicking on the button "Connect". The fields "Destination" (John's call sign) and "Source" (your call sign) must be filled. The other Ham (John) will be in "Unproto" mode. The
connection will be done automatically:
* either if the call signs are crossed in the
fields "Destination" and "Sender" ("A" want connect "B" and "B" want connect
"A"),
* or, simply, if the "Destination" field of the transmitting Ham (the one who initiates the connection, here Patrick) is equal to the "Sender" field of the receiving Ham (here John). Example of basis QSO (without use of
PAX/PAX2 repeater(s))
To do a QSO with any Ham not known in advance, you (here John) will transmit a call in the form "CQ DE VE5MU FOR A CONNECTED QSO +K" in "Unproto" PAX (or PAX2) mode (and John will have, beforehand, written his call, "VE5MU" in the example, in the "Sender" field). John can send an individual frame or can beacon. If an other Ham (here Patrick, in "Unproto mode)
decoding your frame wants to do the QSO, he will write "VE5MU" in the
"Destination" field and "F6CTE" in the "Sender" field, and the he will click on
"Connect". After the automatic connection, the QSO will be done as usual. At the
end of the QSO, the first Ham (Patrick or John) to click on "Disconnect" will
end the QSO.
Note: it is reminded that in accordance with the
good Ham practice and as required by Authorities, it is compulsory to regurarly
transmit both call signs (at least once every 10 minutes).
