It is a new 80 meter ball game for USA hams on 15 December 2006.
Things_will_change. You can bet on it.

Some operators may try to cling to old ways for a while, but
it will become very evident soon: The old calling frequencies
and old habits are neither appropriate nor advantageous
for the new USA subband at 3500-3600kHz after December 15th.

The new 80m band will be crowded with signals. We all must learn
to share the valuable spectrum in new ways. Many of the CW nets,
CW traffic networks, and data traffic networks that previously
existed harmoniously for many years above 3600kHz are now moving
below 3600kHz. These nets are all lined up to be jam packed in the top
40kHz of the new subband.

The purpose of this post here on "digitalradio group" is to
talk about the new calling and CQ frequencies on the new
80 meter USA data band, for the various digital keyboarding
modes that we use.

I am appealing to all for a higher level of discourse,
and asking that this not be turned into a debate or soapbox on
the virtues of manual, semi-automatic, or automatic operation.

Hams don't own 80m frequencies. Neither special nets nor W1AW
have reserved frequencies in the 80m band. What we do have,
is communication, cooperation, coordination, resourcefulness,
tradition, inventiveness, friendship, and courtesy. Those noble
qualities form the strength of our ability to communicate.
