I somehow figured it out and have used fldigi for RTTY and PSK31, odd that received text fonts defaulted to bitstream but I evetually realized that. Very nice, just as the screenshots inciated a well thought out piece of software. Now, off to compose a PSKMAIL letter, and find a server that can be connected to at this time of night.
