Hi again, Rick. I can't speak about the 756, since I have the 746
(non-Pro). On the 746, USB and LSB have a built in bandpass that is
probably around 3 Khz. Fine for SSB, but when used for RTTY is broad as
a barn door. In RTTY or RTTY-R mode, the bandwidth is more like 1 Khz -
still a bit broad, but much better than 3 Khz! If I had filters added, I
could program them for each mode I want to use - for example, I could
use the 500 Hz CW filter in RTTY mode and have a nice narrow bandpass.
Since I don't have any additional filters, running in RTTY mode allows
me to cut the bandpass in half, more or less, without any additional
expense (which right now is out of the question). I think the 756 might
have some of the nice variable bandpass widths that I lack.

Dave,
While I can key my ICOM 756 Pro 2, via the CI-V interface, it is my
understanding is that I am using AFSK since I don't have any connection
to the FSK keying connection on the back DIN plug.
If you are able to take advantage of any filtering your rig offers when
in AFSK RTTY, the need for FSK may not be that necessary.
