During the last RTTY contest I was happened to be trying to listen to the 20m Beacons and there was a local OM running stations with his space tone on top of the CW from the beacon. He was there for a while so I called him right before W6WX beaconed, suggested nicely he qsy, then W6WX ID'd. He thanked me and did so.
So, I think it is lack of knowledge. I didn't find out wht RTTY program he was using though. It would be nice to know which ones will warn you. Leigh/WA5ZNU
