Jonathan, You did say what digital mode you wanted operate. If I remember correctly the MFJ 1278 is an older TNC. It will only operate RTTY, CW, Packet, and maybe Pactor. It does not do any of the newer digital like PSK31, MFSK16. These modes requires a sound card in the PC.
