The technology is generally called "transmitter fingerprinting".  It
IDs the radio by certain characteristics of the transmitted waveform.
If you google for it you'll find several hits for commercial packages.

There is also an old DOS program linked off the AC6V site (
http://www.ac6v.com/software.htm ) do a -find- within the page for
"fingerprint".  I don't know of any more recent freely available
software.
