Skip, Do you use the blue one for $7.50 or the green one for $6.95, or are they the same? Also they have 2 identical blue ones, ADA-HE-280B and HE-280B. All 3 say they use the same chipset. I bought one of the blue ones at a flea market and it seemed to have some rolloff issues, but I can't quite remember. I put it away after trying to get it to work, but if you have had success I will try again.
I am really happy with my Griffin iMic (silver, pre-iPod styling model), but those are $40 now. 73, Leigh/WA5ZNU On Wed, 29 Aug 2007 4:46 am, Skip Teller wrote: > Andy, > > I use a USB "sound adapter", now available for only $7.50 from computer > geeks.com > > http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=HE-280B&cat=GDT > > I just use a Radio Shack audio cable with a 1/4" earphone plug on one > end and a 1/8" mini-plug on the other end to the Mic input of the USB > sound adapter for receive. > > For transmit, I cut a Radio Shack stereo patch cable with 1/8" > miniplugs in half, and solder two wires from a microphone plug for the > transceiver to the cut end and plug that into the USB sound adapter > earphone output jack. > > I then just use the transceiver VOX for PTT. > > I did not even need any isolation transformers (which I usually need > for my Yaesu FT-980) with other interfaces, in order to prevent > feedback. > > The SignaLink USB also works, but costs $100. > > 73, Skip KH6TY
