Thanks Steve for your comments.
The only radio listed in the "radio type" is Icom 706, and I think that 
the Icom 706IIg might have a different command set, that is why, in 
desperation I tried the Generic.
I REPEAT that the IIG performs perfectly on Commander and HRD where you 
can select 706IIG.
I am well aware of the idiosyncrasies of baud rate, bits and parity and 
there is no problem there.
I would like to hear from anyone that is successfully using an Icom 
706IIG with PCALE.
