As an engineer who designed RF systems in a place far away and long ago, the cost of switching 100 watts of RF electronically as opposed to a fast relay device is MUCH higher.
Most Amateurs simply would not want to pay the price of fast all-electronic switching when they don't need it and it brings little to the table.
