I know this is not digital specific, but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction - I have a Kenwood TR-2550A mobile radio I purchased used that I am using for APRS. It worked well at first, but I think it now has an issue with the squelch.
It transmits fine and receives fine if I test with my 5w portable HT. However it is not picking up weaker, further away transmissions that I can hear on the HT. The HT is using a rubber duck antenna, the Kenwood has an apprx 3' omni in the attic. The squelch knob did not seem to work when I received the radio, but I was receiving stations, so I didn't care. What do you think I should look at, or can you point me at some places more appropriate to ask this question? Thanks! Scott N1VAN
