Hi Guys

Don, on HF the general rule is keep the packets short because it is slow and more subject to QRM/QRN except on 29.250MHz/FM which is not realy much different to VHF. With regard to UNPROTO path WIDE3-3 is as about as high as is worth going but be aware that the new paradigm has not yet filtered down to all HF APRS operators.

There is an article of mine that gives tips on HF APRS operating on www.bandscommunications.co.uk under the 'articles'/'aprs on hf' tabs but it is dated prior the new paradigm. You may also be interesed to checkout www.net14.org.uk and see what a group of us are doing on 20m.
