Back around 1990, I used to do meteor scatter on 2 meters THE OLD WAY. We did not have fancy software, it was excruciatingly frustrating. Being in EN98, I used to get people calling me at all hours of the night for skeds, would spend huge amounts of time only to not be able to complete due to job requirements. Working sucks.
EME was the realm of the rich, you had to have BIG GUNS. I managed one (1) EME, and only because someone took pity on my poor link budget. I only had one antenna and a mere 700 watts RMS. Now that we have the nice weak signal software and spotting nets and everything, its just too easy. 10 watts is enough, even with a modest hunk of wire out the window.
