I think this is rather a limitation of less, which requires both
startmark and endmark on the same screen. I saw also a problem with a
small block if the end of block is not in the screen, it is not
colorized.

I will provide a version with per line marking (instead of overkill per
word). Nevertheless, I think this version is theoritically correct. It
is important for other outputs than less, i.e. html, tex, troff..., or
if we want to extend wd to do word level merging.
