Job Title : MS SQL / Oracle DBA Location : NYC Duration : 6 months Rate : Open Job Description Department Overview Provides company with the technical infrastructure that delivers and support the platform, (Compaq, IBM, Sun), Operating Systems (Windows, Solaris, Red Hat Linux), Database Management Systems (Sybase, Oracle, MSSQL), Market Data and Management Systems (Messaging, Active Directory, Capacity Planning, Enterprise Management) to the bank. Main Function Join the Americas (NY/NJ) DBA Production Support Team, part of the global 2nd line DBA team, and provide 2nd line DBA support for over 2,500 MSSQL, Oracle and Sybase servers Main Duties Hands on work MSSQL/Oracle Database Administration " Oracle/MSSQL installation, configuration and maintenance. " Production / Development DB Administration of Oracle version 9i/10g/11g, MSSQL 2000 and 2005. " Oracle/MSSQL version migration(s) and upgrades. " Heavy Performance tuning of Oracle and MSSQL configurations. " Heavy PLSQL/TSQL performance tuning and troubleshooting. " Acting as primary DBA for allocated application development projects. Person Requirements 5-years+ Computer Industry. 5-years+ Production/Development 4 Years Production support DBA experience Minimum of four years experience in: " Oracle 8i/9i/10g " MSSQL 2000 and 2005 " Fluent in backup and recovery, Oracle/MSSQL Utilities and performance tuning. " Detailed knowledge of Oracle/MSSQL software, with an awareness of the capabilities and shortcomings. Experienced in scripting (VB/Shell). Experienced in supporting large high profile systems, preferably in a financial institution. Able to deal with Developers, Managers and Operations staff. Attention to detail, professional thoroughness and a positive attitude.
