*Sr. Sybase Database Administrator - Engineer * This contractor position is a senior Sybase database engineer on the database & storage engineering team. The team is responsible for developing the design and building/engineering solutions to support the operational DBAs. The team is also responsible for 3rd and 4th level support. Besides technical skills we need this person to have excellent communication skills, be self directed, reliable, and responsive; a team player, and produce reliable and verified solutions. General knowledge of the securities/mutual fund industry (terminology, procedures, and regulations) would be helpful. Required - Demonstrated senior level sybase administration experience(installation, monitoring, security, backup/recovery, migration, character sets, etc). General Unix skills and knowledge (packaging, scripting, understanding of Unix(Solaris, HP/UX), General storage systems knowledge(SAN, NAS), Project Management experience. A track record of creating communications and presenting to varied audiences including technical or business. Plus- Familiarity with the following tools: DBArtisan, Oracle 10g(Enterprise Manager) or Microsoft SQL2005, Quest Tools (Spotlight, FogLight, Performance Analyst, SQLab Vision) Experience migrating Sybase 12.5.0.3 to Sybase 15.0 & migrating Sybase 12.5 to Oracle. Storage Subsystem Administration: EMC/Hitach SAN, Netapp NAS, Veritas Netbackup - Tape Backup systems.
