We are in dire need of a Senior Network Engineer with the written CCIE for a
long term project (2-5 yrs in duration) in Metrotech (Brooklyn, NY). This
is the first stop into Brooklyn from downtown Manhattan.
Please take some time and look at the below requirement and let me know if
you have anyone relevant. The rate is not great ($50/hr), but keep in mind
they will be working for a long time.
Senior Cisco Engineer Job Description:
Primarily involved in design and architecture of new projects, including
related documentation and equipment.
This person shall also be the technical escalation point for implementation
and complex operational issues.
Should have a Bachelor's degree with the following experience:
* At least seven (7) years of experience in Routing and Switching
(10/100/1000Mps Ethernet, Frame Relay, ISDN, T1/T3, SONET, Bridging (STP),
TCP/IP, IPX, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP and trunking protocols) in operations,
implementation and engineering
* At least four (4) years of experience in Cisco/Juniper firewalls/IPSEC &
SSL VPN/security)
* Knowledge CISCO QOS & Network General Sniffer Pro
* Strong knowledge of Cisco hardware including the following: Series -- 800,
1700, 2600, 2800, 2900, 4000, 7200, 6500 w/Sup 720's, Sup32 and/or
Sup2/MSFC2, FWSM/ASA/IDSM, IOS and CatOS
* Experience with Management Tools- SNMP, Syslog, Cisco Works, Q1 labs,
Spectrum, Cisco ACS and NetScout
* Experience with wireless, as well as Load-balancing (F5) technologies
* Cisco CCIE certification (passed both written and lab sections)
* Excellent oral, written and presentation skills
Other responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:
* Work with management groups to understand tactical and strategic
objectives and formulate requirements
* Solicit input from other members of various groups, document and present
period design updates
* Work with internal groups and external vendors on network/security related
designs & implementations
* Designs to include not only routing and switching aspects, but also
security, Disaster Recovery, ease of network
management and operations
* Evaluate emerging technologies for product assessments ("bake-offs") and
develop design relevant test environment
* Work with various internal/external groups to research new technologies,
develop configurations and provide solutions
* Review and sign off on all major changes to the network; review all input
from vendors (technical and quotations)
* Lead technical writing for RFPs, proposals and specifications
* Periodically audit network for maintenance and upgrades as necessary
* Participate in meetings as technical lead with groups at (client) and
other City agencies (such as DoITT and Department of Investigation), as well
as new and existing vendors.
