*Urgent Requirement for Senior Cognos Consultant*** * * *Location Pleasanton, CA* * * *Duration: 6 months* *Direct client* *Experience Level: 10+ Years.* * * * * *Solaris or any UNIX flavor experience would be a big plus.* * * Should have 6+ years of BI hands on programing/developing experience. The consultant should be a technical expert in one or more of the Cognos tools as required by his/her practice and domain area. The team member should possess very strong trouble shooting skills and experience. Design, develop, troubleshoot, debug and implements Business Intelligence reporting solutions using COGNOS 8.3 suite. *Deliver advanced/ complex reporting solutions such as Dashboards, Scorecards, Powerplay cubes and Standardized Reporting (including the bursting of reports globally) using Cognos 8.2/8.3. Perform hands on development and coding of application components using the Cognos 8.2/8.3. suite especially Framework Manager and Powerplay Transformer and ReportNet Should have slid hands on experience of 4+ years in building Enterprise level complex reporting solutions. *Cognos administration* - must be able to perform maintenance tasks on Cognos Server including security, software installations, configuration updates and troubleshooting environment. Ability to transform functional requirements into reports. Ability to define, design and implement new reporting solutions, thinking outside the box in developing solution to complex Enterprise requirements. Must be very good in developing complex reports and cubes and ability to find solutions to complex reporting problems. Knowledge of data and data manipulation techniques Ability to create reports which are reusable across multiple disciplines Support of Development of a Report Template Library Database Modeling Experience Relational/Star Schema modeling and design Web Services (COGNOS Web Services, HTML, XML, etc.) Experience to Visual Basic, Cognos Script, JavaScript, Java,SQL and Object Oriented Programming. Ability to write and debug SQL DataSources like DB2,Oracle v9 and up, SQL Server, Flat Files, Data Files Tactical and Strategic Thinker and Doer Solid Interpersonal Skills Must be able to work with Cognos Support personnel in troubleshooting problems Perform detailed documentation of design, development, testing and deployment activities necessary to ensure team knowledge sharing. Must have working knowledge of Oracle,DB2,Terradata,SQL Server. Familiarity with Toad would be a big plus. ***The key skillset for these positions is having experience with back end cubes and have worked with other programming languages writing very complex code (Ex. Java, C, etc...).
