Current Salary and Expected Salary.* *Job Title : Middleware Specialist II* *Work Location : **Syracuse, NY* *Employment Type : Full Time* ** *DESCRIPTION* Enterprise Integration Services is seeking a Middleware Specialist to work in our Syracuse office in the Enterprise Architecture and Web Services Sector in support of its shared services. You will assist in implementing, integrating, and providing support for our middleware shared services for real-time mission critical applications. Responsibilities: * Assists with implementation and maintenance activities for middleware system software and configurations. * Keeps abreast of latest middleware products and technology and their successful deployment in similar corporate settings. * Assists more senior members of the middleware team with installation, configuration and development of middleware utility programs and related distributed system software on multiple mainframe/distributed hardware/software environments. * Communicate with application professionals on integration and conversion activities. * Provides on-site and on-call support 24 hours a day and 7 days a week as needed for problem identification and resolution support through analysis and research. * Installs and configures middleware and related distributed system software. Business Skills: * Experience with all of the following technologies is required: o Java (must have strong background, JSE 5.0 or higher preferred) o XML, XHTML/CSS o UNIX (Solaris and/or AIX preferred) o J2EE application server (BEA Web Logic and/or IBM Web Sphere preferred) * Experience with any of the following technologies is a plus: o Java NIO and concurrent packages o XSLT o Relax NG o Apache Velocity o C o JavaScript/AJAX o GWT o Ant o Subversion o Windows, Mainframe (z/OS: CICS, IMS, etc.) o .NET * Must have knowledge of and prior hands-on experience with systems or application software and associated platforms. * Must have experience troubleshooting technical (hardware, software or application) problems. * Must have extensive knowledge of and experience with designing, implementing and supporting middleware products/services on multiple platforms. * Must be customer-service oriented and able to handle multiple tasks concurrently. * Must be an experienced problem solver who makes sound decisions and seeks assistance when appropriate. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. *********** The job holder implements, integrates and provides full support for middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment. S/he collaborates and consults with application development teams to determine middleware platform selection, efficient transaction design, use and recovery procedures in line with business requirements. S/he also assists the middleware team by identifying and resolving problems and proactively monitors and tunes system software environments and networks to enhance middleware performance. Minimum 3-5 years experience required. Job holder must have extensive knowledge of and experience with designing, implementing and supporting middleware products on multiple platforms. S/he must have expertise in the major functions and features of middleware products and understand the impact of planned changes to the environment on system performance. S/he must also have experience in designing and implementing middleware transaction flows across and between applications running on multiple platforms. Job holder needs to have thorough knowledge of company's total computing environment and the considerations for data and transaction movement, integration and transport across diverse platforms, applications running on multiple platforms.
