*GC MINIMUM* ** *Location: Chicago, IL | Duration: 6 Months Contract to Hire | Start Date: Immediately* * * ¬ Provided primary DBA support to users ¬ Responded to all alerts and took necessary actions not only for short term relief, but for permanent fixes as well. ¬ Used Autosys for scheduled jobs and activities to be done on dataservers including dumps, restores to DR servers, index reorgs, update statistics, DBCC checks, etc. ¬ Customized scheduling as needed for users. Assist other team members with challenges they faced using Autosys. Trained new team members as needed. ¬ Coordinated kerberos rollout to all servers in group as per company compliance. ¬ Analyzed notifications sent each week (pages and e-mails) and made recommendations to primary DBA to reduce server noise. Ensured that overall noise reduction reduced each week and reduced the stress for the person providing on-call support. ¬ Upgraded all Sybase IQ servers to ensure they were all using a version supported by Sybase. Performed ASE upgrades as needed to stay in compliance with company policies. ¬ Built new Sybase and Sybase IQ dataservers on as needed by users. ¬ Assisted users in performance tuning objects as needed by looking at fragmentation reports, sysmon output, long running spids, etc. Objects included stored procedures, data cache utilization, indexes, etc. ¬ Modified existing shell scripts and wrote new scripts as needed for monitoring, autosys jobs, etc. ¬ Standardized all IQ scripts for compliance and ease of support not only from the primary DBA, but for any other support DBAs. ¬ Mentor team members in basic IQ commands and support. ¬ Write documentation for basic IQ commands and support how-to. Edit existing documentation for ASE and IQ servers to bring documentation up-to-date with current company policies and methodologies.
