This position is on a project team to replace legacy Time & Labor reporting systems with a vendor product on the J2EE platform. Verizon's business processes related to time and labor reporting are complex and integrated to a large extent with financial applications. The tasks involved are to perform detailed analysis of complex processes in the legacy application with strong attention to operational considerations. The analysis will involve reviewing several complex COBOL modules and documenting the functionality in an organized fashion. Specific attention will need to be paid to certain financial data elements that are reported along side time reporting that will be edited against reference data maintained in a remote financial application. All documentation produced will need to be readable by an end user. The analysis will need to consider viability of existing legacy reporting databases - comparative studies will need to be performed by reviewing current inputs used to build the reporting database, and comparing those to data elements in the new application. Skill Set required: 10 plus years of design and development experience in the IBM mainframe environment. - COBOL, JCL, DB2, SQL(QMF/SPUFI), File Manipulation utilities (FileAID, INSync etc) IMS DB/DC (optional) Strong analytical capability with experience in complex business environments. Substantial experience is requirements analysis and gathering. Prior Experience with Financial and or Human Resources applications is highly desired but not necessary. Prior experience in migration of legacy applications to a distributed environment is desired. This is a position that will make a significant contribution to defining the requirements for a critical component of the time and labor collection application for a complex business.
