Location: NYC-- Financial Services

Length: 6 Months+

Rate- $35-40/HR {MAX}



This role is with the monitoring team in Derivatives IT. The user base
includes users of monitoring dashboards, senior management and reporting
functions and developers who will use API’s to provide monitoring data to
the monitoring environment. Specifically: - Assist in design and
implementation of monitoring dashboard technology, including web displays -
Provide architectural and development guidance to other Derivatives IT
development groups to assist in making their systems Monitoring Compliant -
Support various monitoring components that include front end to
data-warehouse - Develop monitoring components - Provide Analysis of
individual monitoring components as well as the entire monitoring
infrastructure to assist with steering direction The person will work with
Derivatives IT (DIT) developers and infrastructure groups to ensure that all
critical DIT applications and infrastructures are monitored and measured.
The person will work with DIT support and dev groups to gather requirements
and assist in designing and supporting the monitoring project. This is a
challenging role with lots of interaction with all major areas of
Derivatives IT and is therefore suitable for energetic and communicative
candidates. Problems solving skills and an analytical approach are definite
requirements. The role is broad facing and offers an excellent opportunity
to learn about Derivatives trading and support areas. As well, the group is
a global group; the candidate will also be exposed to unique cross boundary
and cultural challenges that will prove to be exciting.

*Essential:*

   1. Comp Sci or IS degree
   2. Experience with working in a trading environment or large financial
   firm - Excellent communication and relationship building skills
   3. Experience with enterprise monitoring tools; i.e. NetIQ, MOM, NetCool,
   BMC, Tivoli, etc … - Scripting - Development skills - Basic Database
   administration knowledge. - Data warehousing and design - Performance
   analysis - Web front end and design; possibly graphic artist skills
   4. Experience supporting and administrating enterprise level
   infrastructure
   5. Experience with developing tools via scripting or development
   languages (C, C++, Java, Javascripts, Perl)
   6. Understanding of application architecture –
   7. Strong knowledge of core technologies - e.g. Sybase, Oracle, Storage,
   Operating systems, web portals and components
   8. Experience with monitoring frameworks and its design
   9. Cross-platform experiences and knowledge
