This is to be accomplished through the development of conceptual and logical business based data models and a data landscape. The results of these models will be used as a basis of developing applications and the purchase of third party applications as well as the support of business intelligence efforts. What skill sets do you require? These individuals will develop conceptual and logical business based enterprise data models. The primary purpose of these models is to capture the meaning and relationship of the data which represents the Client Business. The approach will include: a. capturing the meaning of the data independent of how it is processed b. developing business, conceptual and logical representations of data and its relationships c. determining how the data is related to business functions and applications processes This resource will also be involved in a data classification effort as a part of the above mentioned data models. The effort with involve pre-defining classification schemas (taxonomies), and then actually classifying the data. The most well-known schema is for security, however schemas are also needed for areas such as master data, global data, and business area specific areas. Qualifications for data architects: We would need individuals with the approximately 10 years of modeling experience. This experience must include developing large models at all levels. These individuals will work closely with internal data architects to gather the needed information, develop the models and appropriate business descriptions. In addition to the modeling experience they must also have a strong working knowledge and extensive experience with the Erwin data modeling tool. A final requirement is some experience working in the data area of a large retail organization. Proven experience in the development of a data architecture using the Provision tool is a plus.
