Must have strong communications skills both written and oral Scientific Computing Engineer Primary Responsibilities: Support scientific linux applications such as Accelrys Discovery Studio, Cambridge Studio, Gaussian, Pymol, PHENIX, BLAST. Software support includes installation, upgrades, licensing, optimization, troubleshooting. Fair amount of open source software, will need to optimize and recompile. Backend software includes PERL, Sun Grid Engine, PBS, Oracle. HPC Clusters are configured for performance (vs redundancy/failover). Work with end users on software issues, project management team for new systems, programming team for rollouts, vendors for software, Corporate IT for basic OS and hardware. Secondary Responsibilities: Programming and scripting to support PM and software groups. Low level coding is not expected. Position is not Sysadmin. No: backups, account maintenance, hardware support, OS support, patching, AV. No permanent root access, no physical access to servers. Position based in Spring House, PA will remote into systems in San Diego, Raritan, San Jose, Titusville, Belgium. Not an operational position in datacenter, hours Monday-Friday, regular business hours working alongside end users. Workstations are IBM/Lenovo with 3D goggles, servers HP. OS mixture of RHES moving to SLES.
