Title: Ab Initio developer

Location: Pasadena, CA 

Duration: 6 months - Corp to Corp 

Pay Rate: Negotiable - Contract 

 

Job Description:

 The new hire will be a member of the IT-Analytics Risk Management team
within the Application Delivery group. As part of this group, the individual
will be responsible for facilitating a stable and cost-effective market data
infrastructure to be used by other systems and business units across the
firm. More specifically, he/she will apply the use and knowledge of JAVA in
the design and development of market data business processes and
technologies and will also play a key role in supporting the business
operations reliant on market data, particularly for the Analytics Risk
Management team.

Responsibilities/Duties:

§ Works with Business Analyst/Project Lead in the design and implementation
of market data-related solutions. 

§ Successful applicant will be responsible building AbInitio ETL graphs for
processes and load routines, preparing business and technical documentation,
and will provide mentoring in Ab Initio. 

§ Helps to identify gaps and areas for improvement to enhance the state of
current processes.

§ Diagnoses, solves and communicates production issues to ensure a timely
recovery and minimal impact to our business users.

§ Analyzes requirements, designs solutions, and tests code prior to releases
in order to maintain the integrity of our systems as well as the stability
and reliability of supported processes.

§ Abides to industry best practices and change management procedures when
implementing changes to new or existing code.

§ Produces technical design documentation based on thorough understanding of
business requirements.

Competencies:

§ Expertise with all tiers of Java; Extensive experience with JSP/ Struts,
EJB, Swing, Weblogic and Core Java are required; Knowledge of JMS, JDBC and
Perl are a plus.

§ Candidate must have solid experience in the analysis, design and
development of Extraction Transformation and Loading (ETL) mechanism using
Ab Initio or similar systems.

§ Prepare/implement data verification and testing methods for the Data
Warehouse

§ Solid knowledge of relational database design, Oracle or Sybase.

§ Experience with analysis, design and development of investment
applications and processes.

§ Creative problem-solving skills, recognizing multiple potential solutions
to a given problem, and being able to identify and justify the optimum
solution.

§ Ability to work in a team environment.

§ Ability to implement previously developed technical designs

§ Good oral and written communication skills (both technical and
non-technical).

§ Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently, balancing each so
that required project dates are met. 

§ Familiarity with Market Data providers, systems and feeds

§ Experience in asset management a plus.

 

We need someone who is strong on Oracle and Sybase along with Ab Initio
