Requirement:

 

Title:  Senior Network Administrator

 

Mandatory skill set(s):   Extensive knowledge and experience in configuring, implementing, and maintaining Firewalls and Load Balancers preferred. Possess a strong understanding of best-of-breed business practices and be willing to assist in implementing new practices across the team. ITIL or ITSM knowledge/certifications strongly preferred.

 

Experience in Change Management preferred. Work hours may include 24/7/365 as necessary to implement networks outside of normal business hours.

 

This position, supporting Apollo Group and all of its subsidiaries, provides a high level of technical expertise to perform or direct the work of others in the planning, evaluation, acquisition, design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization?s network infrastructure including local or wide area networks (LAN/WAN) and servers and voice communication networks and systems. This position may be accountable for the operations, maintenance, compliance, and integrity of at least one hundred (100) routed, switched or voice infrastructure devices or this position may perform or direct the design of network systems and/or implementation of network devices and equipment

 

NOTE: The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Incumbents may perform all or most of the primary accountabilities listed below. Specific tasks or responsibilities will be documented in the incumbents' performance objectives as outlined by the incumbents' immediate supervisor or manager. 1. Acts as a team lead to monitor LAN or WAN and servers and conduct performance evaluations of data/voice networks. 2. Plans and evaluates complex existing network systems and performs design and installation, configuration, load balancing and ongoing maintenance of network devices. 3. Provides highly skilled technical guidance in reviewing and recommending appropriate hardware/software solutions and oversees the installation of routers, firewalls, servers, switches, voice over IP, and voice mail, as job requirements specify. 4. Develops technical standards and interface applications, evaluation of new products and provides resolution for highly complex network problems or issues. 5. Oversees work assignments to support, install, maintain and troubleshoot LAN, WAN or voice communication devices and related software for remote offices and internal and external networks. 6. May interface with vendors to identify and purchase hardware and software. 7. Provide guidance for the creation and maintenance of documentation for data and voice networks. 8. Maintains and increases professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops, reviewing professional publications, or participating in professional development activities. 9. Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.

 

A thorough knowledge and understanding of network technologies as normally obtained through the completion of a Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. Industry certifications, such as ACNA or CCNA or equivalent experience strongly preferred. Five to seven years in LAN switching, WAN experience or telecommunications equipment is preferred. Proven experience in Cisco routing and switching technologies, UNIX and Microsoft operating systems, the TCP/IP suite of protocols, or PBX programming and installation is strongly preferred. Must have knowledge and/or experience in Information Security and Network Management Systems, Foundry, Avaya voice technologies, MMA, Interchange, or Veramark call accounting systems. Meru, Juniper, and Citrix NetScalar strongly preferred. Knowledge and proven skill with highly complex network technologies and concepts strongly preferred. Must have knowledge and skill with hardware and software required for connectivity and installation operations, or call routing protocols to implement, optimize, and maintain routing structures. Must possess the ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously. Must have the ability to be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in the event that services are required. May be required to work maintenance windows and/or shift work at nights and weekends. Must have the ability to relay highly complex technical information to non-technical individuals and the ability to interact with end users to determine or diagnose network issues.
