*Mobile/Federation Architect - **EAD’s GC’s US CITIZENS only*
*Position Summary:*
The Mobile/Federation Architect provides technical expertise in the areas of
systems and applications design, development, and implementation for mobile
devices. This senior level individual is recognized as a technical leader
and critical technical resource across multiple disciplines. The individual
in this position provides technical oversight and direction to the JNET
mobile and external federation initiatives.
The senior level individual in this position will participate in the design
and development of architectural standards and ensure compliance for: 1)
mobile applications design, development, testing and implementation
practices at JNET, and 2) JNET’s external federated security infrastructure.
The individual in this position will determine how components such as
firewalls, intrusion detection systems, encryption, authentication services,
enterprise services, existing applications, etc. fit into the overall mobile
infrastructure.
The Mobile/Federation Architect is responsible for identifying the most
complex development related issues and determining appropriate resolution.
The Mobile/Federation Architect will participate in mobile software
development reviews, assist other team members with technology research, and
will provide prototyping and implementation services. The Mobile/Federation
Architect will assist in providing Tier 1B Help Desk technical support
services. This individual will support JNET’s mobile efforts across the JNET
agencies and users.
Areas of expertise include in-depth knowledge of current mobile web
development tools and techniques, e.g., Java, Java ME, Enterprise Java
Beans, Java2E, JMS, UML, and Object Oriented analysis and design tools and
techniques. This person is highly skilled in the usage and appropriate
application of the following standards:
- HTTP 1.1/1.0 - Hyper-Text Transfer Protocol.
- HTML 3.2/4.0 - Hyper-Text Mark-up Language.
- XML 1.0 - eXtensible Markup Language.
- LDAP - Lightweight Directory Access Protocol.
- X.500 - Directory Services.
- SSL 3 - Secure Sockets Layer (Encryption).
- X.509v3 - Digital Certificates (Authentication/Authorization).
- JavaScript/Jscript - based on the ECMA-262 scripting language standard.
- Secure web services including:
- Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP).
- Universal Description, Discovery and Integration (UDDI).
- Web Services Description Language (WSDL).
*This position’s responsibilities will include:*
Define and design a solid reusable mobile architecture for JNET service
enabled applications.
Perform technical leadership duties, including mentoring others and
facilitating presentations with internal/external customers.
Lead technical brainstorming sessions.
Create technical documentation.
Participate in the software technical review and comment process.
Provide accurate estimates for project deliverables.
Expand JNET’s mobile applications based upon user input and JNET management
direction.
Work with designers, developers, and users to deploy high value JNET mobile
applications.
Stay current with emerging mobile web technologies and capabilities.
Defining GFIPM business processes and policies related to controlling access
to systems and applications.
Provide leadership direction to successfully implement GFIPM governance at
JNET.
Develop GFIPM management strategies, architectures and implementation plans.
Provide GFIPM architectural direction to JNET.
*Desired Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities*
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent degree.
Eight years experience in the IT industry.
Five to six years’ technical experience in supporting mobile and federated
security solutions.
*Mobile*
Two plus years of experience in architecting software for the Blackberry,
Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices.
Expert in web-based mobile tools.
Strong software development skills - design, coding, testing.
Experience using wireless connectivity technologies like 800MHZ, 3G,
Bluetooth, FM, WiFi, etc.
Experience developing content for mobile consumer devices.
Understanding of distributed component design techniques to create scalable
mobile components.
*Federated Security*
Working knowledge of XML; specifically SAML.
Working Knowledge of network security; SSL/TLS and PKI preferred.
Working knowledge of GFIPM.
*General*
Prior experience in an enterprise-scaled and managed environment.
Excellent communicator with all levels of staff, both verbally and in
writing.
Ability to make clear technical presentations.
Internet / web design and development tools and techniques.
Relevant industry certifications.
Excellent organizational skills.
Proven ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, strong conceptual and analytical
skills.
Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member.
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
