Bethpage, NY Located in Bethpage, Long Island, NY has a position open for a Netezza DBA. A copy of the job description is below. Technical/Functional Competencies · BS in Computer Science or Engineering, MS preferred, or equivalent work experience required (2 years min) · Working knowledge of Talend Integration Studio Enterprise Edition (ETL framework). · In-depth knowledge in Netezza database administration. · Experience in transformations, data manipulation, data enrichment, and lookups. · Experience in data cleansing, mining, filtering, aggregating, sorting, and deduping · Experience in parsing source data using delimiter, regular expression or position. · Experience in error and exception handling of all ETL process flows. · Experience with Netezza’s nzsql, nzload, backing up data, managing users, schemas, and table structures. · Experience in Linux Redhat Environment and Administration of services. · Proficient with LINUX or UNIX shell scripting. Other languages a plus (C, C++, Java, Python, etc) Key Experiences/Achievements: · Minimum of 6 to 10 years experience in the following areas: · 6 + years of administering DBAs in a IBM Netezza environment · Experience in Redhat & Unix shell scripting for performing DBA administration tasks · Experience in working on Netezza Administrator Tool and advanced security. · Experience in writing ELT NZ sql procedures and development. · Experience in using External Tables, nzload and SQL analytical functions. · Experience Indexing, Tuning, and Query Optimization. · Application portfolio in a UNIX or LINUX environment, utilizing shell and Perl scripting · Proven ETL processes utilizing ETL Framework such as Informatica, Talend. · Moderate to complex application delivery utilizing data collection and/or warehousing (RDBMS) · Ability to organize, plan and execute medium to large projects with unanticipated priority change · Proven leadership in a team environment working in a technical capacity. · Ability to work in a fast paced environment. · Experience in upgrading new versions of Netezza, apply patches and to install packages (like NZ Analytical package) · Experience in setting up new database/server and to manage group/users. · Experience to perform database backup/restores, groom/db stats, data copy/DDL copies · Experience in handling Netezza hardware failures, disk swaps, SPU crashes, SPA failures and component failures. · Perform regular DBA activities including setting up failure notification events, health checks, to setup automatic monitoring scripts. · Perform database parameter changes, database storage sizing, estimate disk/object growth, house keep system files & query database. · Knowledge of other databases like Oracle, MYSQL is plus. OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION · Assist with the development and deployment of moderate to complex ETL processes for applications and tools, assisting with various inter/intra departmental projects as required · Work closely with Operational groups for requirements gathering, source analysis, source to Client mappings, and translate business requirements into code, employing established programming standards · Demonstrates aptitude in learning new technologies and industry best practices · Strict adherence to development processes and procedures, including application framework standards to each respective project · Ability to analyze data, trends or obstacles and consider available solutions or alternative methods of proceeding · Manage/create new databases, administer Netezza groups/users/databases/OS system. · Schedule or create customized backup scripts as per organization/ business requirements. · Perform data copy between environments, backup/restore database in full/differential mode. · Upgrade Netezza to new versions, apply patch, install packages (like analytical packages) when needed. · Promote code/data from lower environment to production. · Perform database tuning, database parameter settings, tune user queries, identify and resolve bottle necks in SQL query. · Setup event/notification process in Netezza, so that DBAs are notified about hardware/software failures/disk space issues. · Work with IBM Support for raising issues/problems.
