*Client: State of Ohio* BWC is looking for a Programmer 5 to act as a Cognos FMM Developer to support implementing a new Claims, Policy and Billing System. We will be shifting our Data Warehouse and Reporting infrastructure from DB2/Hyperion to Oracle/Cognos. The nature of our data is also changing, as data elements are changing purpose and semantics as part of the transition.
BWC’s new system will have a transaction data store (TDS), operational data store (ODS) and a newly designed Oracle Enterprise Data warehouse. The new Oracle Enterprise Data Warehouse will be presented to our customers via the Cognos Toolset, specifically models created in Framework Manager Modeler. The Framework Modeler Developer will be primarily involved in interpreting design documentation, working with Data Analysts and Report Developers to create models appropriate for use by reporting and business staff. This position will also be expected to perform Report Development as required. During a given day, this position will be expected to: •Work with Data Analysts, Report Developers and potentially business customers to verify requirements documents •Use Framework Manager including DMR (Dimensionally Modeled Relational), setting up hierarchies, performance tuning and optimizing framework environment •Use Framework Manager Modeler to create models for consumption by Report Developers and Power Business Users •Attend design meetings •Perform modeling tasks associated with dimensional and relational models •Use Oracle software and tools to perform required tasks •Perform knowledge transfer to BWC staff *Mandatory Skills:* •10 or more years of experience with SQL programming against an Oracle RDBMS on data warehouse and business intelligence projects. •10 or more years of experience with business intelligence tools such as IBM Cognos •5 or more years of experience with Cognos Framework Modeling, IQDs (Impromptu Query Definitions), Report Studio and Query Studio •3 or more years of experience with Cognos Framework Manager Modeler in a data warehouse environment using Cognos 8 or above •5 or more years of experience with development and support of dimensional/star-schema based data structures including fact tables (commonly referred to as Kimball). •3 years or more experience designing and developing Cognos reports using cubes, dashboards, drill-throughs etc. *Desired Skills:* •Proficiency with Cognos 10.2 and its DQM and Workspace Advance features •Software development experience with Oracle RDBMS 11g •Software development experience with IBM DB2/UDB •Experience with HTML and JavaScript, as used for Cognos reporting •Experience writing design specifications, test scripts and other required documentation •Experience developing queries against normalized as well as dimensional data structures •Experience establishing standards based on industry best practices •Knowledge of property and casualty insurance systems •Knowledge of Ohio BWC business model and processes •Experience using Oracle SQL*Plus, Toad, Oracle PL/SQL Developer •Experience in measuring and tuning the performance of Oracle Data Warehouse SQL queries •Skill in the use of organizational tools & methods (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, VISIO, Clarity) •Experience performing peer reviews •Ability to effectively communicate with business and IT staff •Ability to quickly adapt to changes, enhancements, and new technologies •Ability to establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with team members.
