Expected length of the engagement 11/4/2013 through 12/31/2014 based on
Budgetary and Administrative approval.


BWC is implementing a new Claims and Policy system.  As a result, the
business systems that interface with EDI are completely changing.  The new
system requires additional data elements to be exchanged between BWC and
its EDI trading partners.  This initiative requires extensive EDI trading
partner testing with 17 Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), the Pharmacy
Benefits Manager (PBM) and the Health Partnership Program vendor (CAM).

The *EDI Technical Specialist *will primarily work with the MCO’s technical
representatives to assist with their understanding of the EDI technical
specifications, perform testing coordination, execute test cycles and
verify test cases.

The EDI Technical Specialist will be expected to execute and modify IBM
mainframe JCL.  This position will use TSO, utilize IBM File Manager,
execute TIBCO Foresight EDISIM Analyzer processing and be able to navigate
some features of IBM Sterling Gentran:Basic translator, such as databanking.

During a given day, this position will be expected to:
•Work with other BWC EDI Technical Specialists, non-EDI technical staff and
business customers to verify testing scenarios are executed accurately and
completely.
•Work with external EDI trading partners to communicate technical
requirements, verify their EDI transactions are X12 compliant, and verify
testing scenarios are executed accurately and completely.
•Verify BWC X12 transaction sets are correctly populated and X12 compliant.

•Verify BWC application file formats are correctly populated.
•Use the IBM mainframe to perform required testing tasks.
•Use TIBCO Foresight EDISIM Analyzer to perform required testing tasks.
•Use IBM Sterling Gentran:Basic to perform required testing tasks.
•Use MS Office tools to track testing tasks and to communicate in a
professional and collaborative manner with BWC business customers and
external EDI trading partners.
•Attend testing and other project meetings.
•Perform knowledge transfer to BWC staff.

Mandatory Skills:

•7 or more years of experience with EDI X12 transactions.  Must be
extremely familiar with the technical components of X12 standards at a very
detailed level.
•7 or more years of experience with understanding and using EDI
Implementation Guides (also referred to as TR3s).  Must be able to explain
EDI specifications to lesser knowledgeable trading partners (both orally
and in writing).
•5 or more years of experience interacting with internal and external
business customers.  Oral and written communications are integral to
working with BWC’s EDI trading partners.  Also the ability to establish and
maintain positive collaborative relationships with team members and
external business partners.
•2 or more years of experience on the IBM mainframe platform.  Must be
proficient with TSO and mainframe datasets (primarily flat files and
partitioned datasets).
•2 or more years of experience with creating, modifying and executing JCL
to meet differing testing initiatives.
•2 or more years of experience with X12 transaction testing tools,
preferably TIBCO Foresight EDISIM Analyzer.
•2 or more years of experience with navigating an EDI translator,
preferably IBM Sterling Gentran:Basic, although Gentran mapping experience
is not required.
•1 or more years with IBM File Manager or an equivalent data manipulation
tool.
•1 or more years writing test scripts and other required documentation.
•1 or more years of experience using organizational tools & methods (MS
Excel, MS Word & MS Outlook).

Desired Skills:

•Knowledge of specific X12 transaction sets, listed in the order of
importance to BWC: 148, 824, 837, 835, 816, 997 & 276.
•X12 design experience including using an EDI design tool, preferably TIBCO
Foresight EDISIM Standards Editor.
•EDI mapping/coding experience using IBM Sterling Gentran:Basic.
•Knowledge of healthcare HIPAA EDI transactions.
•Knowledge of property and casualty insurance systems.
•Knowledge of Ohio BWC business model and processes.
•Ability to quickly adapt to changes, enhancements, and new technologies.
•Experience using VISIO & Clarity.
