Role: QA Manager

Location: Auburn Hills, MI

Duration: 12+Months



This leadership position is responsible for ensuring performance, accuracy,
and functionality of IS products and project development efforts from a
quality standards point of view. QA Test Manager will provide guidance and
support on large, complex scale projects for technical and business unit
staff while directing quality assurance efforts to design, write, and
execute quality assurance plans for new and modified application software.
QA Test Manager will interact with development staff to influence and
coordinate the implementation of quality practices and procedures and will
gather pertinent information to build (or oversee the building of) test
cases and plans that will ensure all software development meets design
specifications, company standards, and end-user requirements. QA Test
Manager will lead the development and implementation of a user acceptance
testing process that involves clients and client representatives resulting
in project signoff. QA Test Manager will communicate with TPM's regarding
testing tasks, metrics reporting, and problem determination and resolution.



Responsibilities:   Approx.% of Time Annually

1. Project Management Interact with project team to influence and
coordinate the implementation of quality practices and procedures, as set
forth in ePMM, and will gather pertinent information to build (or oversee
the building of) test strategy, test plans, and test cases that will ensure
all software development meets design specifications, company standards,
and end-user requirements.

•              Ensure the testing service methodology is used appropriately
in all projects and releases, which may require elicitation and cooperation
from a wide variety of sources, including upper management, clients, and
other departments

•              Facilitate pre-tasking activities with clients and vendors
and influence team leadership to deliver common goals

•              Liaise with both Program and Technical Project Managers to
understand the project milestones and plan the testing effort and strategy
required for each application/project based on the development approach and
timeline.

•              Identify and coordinate all non-Information Services testing
that impacts or interacts with other testing efforts

•              Participate in peer reviews and conduct assessments (e.g.
review and approval of system requirements and test specifications)

•              Develop and publish quality assurance plans for projects and
arrange quality assurance tasks within the project plan

•              Manage project and release interdependencies to ensure
Project Managers are fully informed of testing issues and options.

•              Secure required approvals related to quality control
planning, execution, and product/deliverable implementation; test approach/
strategy, master test plan, test environment request, test execution
schedule, test case, traceability matrices and test summary report as
appropriate

•              Elevate issues irresolvable at the project level to higher
levels of management for resolution

•              Conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines
through analytical and problem-solving capabilities

•              Devise options for achieving targets when progress is not as
intended     75%

2. Test Competency & Development - Oversee testing phases using a
matrix-managed approach; this includes Unit, Integration, System, UAT,
Performance Testing, and any necessary Compliance testing.

•              Deliver effective test management procedures and processes
during the test delivery lifecycle

•              Provide expertise on Software Quality Assurance to the
application development, support and maintenance teams.

•              Advise on and implement new methods, tools, and/or quality
assurance processes

•              Suggest test process improvements based on incident trends

•              Perform all quality activities as specified by ePMM    15%

3. Reporting - Monitor and control tests being performed on all projects
under the responsible program portfolio; producing test reports of progress
against time and quality, defects & severity, distribution and priority
rating, impact assessments, trends over the project etc.

•              Report on overall project tracking, testing governance and
health checks, alongside managing project test work streams

•              Measure and monitor progress using established processes to
ensure that the testing phases are delivered on time, within budget and to
an agreed level of quality.       10%





The Test Manager, working directly with the Technical Project Manager, will
lead, direct and administer the overall project testing effort to ensure
the solution meets the client need as defined in the system requirement
specification. The Test Manager will perform the following tasks:



Concept Phase (0% effort)



Define Phase (20% effort)

•              Collect all OOM estimates for all applicable phases of
testing

•              Gain read write access to Project Database

•              Ensure testability of both Functional and Non-Functional
requirements by participating in system requirements gathering sessions

•              Ensure Application Performance criteria is properly
documented by reviewing Non-Functional requirements

•              Participate in the Peer Review of the requirements

•              Engage Application Performance Team (if applicable)

•              Gain awareness of initial testing scope by socializing high
level Overall Test Plan with the TPM

•              Initiate Overall Test Plan by conducting reviews with SME's
and TPM's

•              Draft initial Test Management project tasks to be included
in the Overall TPM project schedule

•              Refine estimates from applicable participating areas

•              Contour monthly testing demand hours in Change point

•              Ensure test documentation is contained in the Project
database (Test assets will remain in QC)



Design Phase (25% effort)

•              Complete Overall Test Plan

•              Gain approval of the Overall Test Plan through a peer review
process

•              Review and update project schedule with TPM

•              Initialize Requirements Traceability Matrix for both
Functional and non-functional (Application Performance) requirements-
System Requirements to Test Scripts/Test Cases

•              Initialize Test Planning Tracking Log

•              Submit Request Management Form for Client Quality Center
(QC)project setup

•              Assess testing requirements (environments, hardware, data,
accounts etc) by meeting with the testing team

•              Baseline testing estimate and testing schedule

•              Secure testing resources for all applicable phases of
testing and assure they're assigned in Changepoint

•              Schedule testing team training for writing test scripts/test
cases (if needed)

•              Monitor monthly testing demand hours in Changepoint

•              Ensure all test documentation is contained in the Project
database (Test assets will remain in QC)





Build Phase (20% effort)

•              Schedule, monitor and document test script/test cases
creation progress on Test Planning Tracking Log

•              Publish status of test cases progress

•              Complete Requirements Traceability Matrix

•              Submit Hogan Cycle Coordination documents if applicable

•              Ensure all test environments (hardware, data, accounts etc.)
are configured and available

•              Conduct peer review sessions for test scripts/test cases and
gain approvals

•              Initialize Test Execution Tracking Log

•              Schedule testing status and defect meetings

•              Submit Request Management Form for QC new user profiles

•              Schedule training for QC if applicable

•              Document all known defects in QC prior to System Test Phase
(Unit and Integration) and document Remediation Plan with TPM

•              Verify test readiness against the test entry criteria

•              Monitor monthly testing demand hours in Change point

•              Ensure all test documentation is contained in the Project
database (Test assets will remain in QC)



Test Phase (30% effort)

•              Schedule, monitor and document test execution progress on
the Test Execution Tracking Log for all applicable phases

•              Track defects and publish standardized metrics for overall
testing efforts

•              Facilitate all defect review meetings

•              Ensure all test exit criteria has been met

•              Obtain sign-off on applicable testing phases

•              Monitor monthly testing demand hours in Change point

•              Ensure test documentation is contained in the Project
database (Test assets will remain in QC)



Implementation Phase (5% effort)

•              Review any remaining open defects with TPM and ensure they
are properly transferred to Service Desk

•              Verify all Production Certification has been met priot to
implementation and send production certification readiness notice to Manager

•              Complete test status metrics for project close-out

•              Participate in any lesson learned meetings
