This resource will be the central point of contact for all software

Data Warehouse development. This includes managing activities for

Job Description: Support Analyst - Network Administrator

Short Project Description:
The CA SOMS Delivery team performs all aspects of system integration (i.e.,
responsible for project management, analysis, testing, training, deployment
and support for prison offender management systems. Ops Support Analysts
are primarily responsible for supporting the hosting environment from a
build, configure and maintenance perspective.
Position Details:
The network administrator is expected to support and execute any of the
tasks related to the following activities:
• Maintaining the network - ongoing tasks such as:
o Adding new host machines to the network
o Administering network security
o Troubleshooting network problems
• Expanding the network - responsibilities could include any of the
following:
o Setting up a new network and connecting it to the existing network using
a machine functioning as a router, thus creating an internetwork
o Connecting the CA SOMS network to the Internet, thus enabling users on
the network to retrieve information from other systems throughout the world
• On-call responsibilities are a requirement

Skills Required: MUST HAVE ALL REQUIRED SKILLS TO BE CONSIDERED
• Knowledgeable of Cisco network routers, switches, load balancer.
• Knowledgeable of Cisco firewall technologies.
• Knowledgeable of Layer2 protocols including but not limited to Spanning
Tree, VLAN tagging and Link Aggregations protocols.
• Knowledgeable on QoS strategies, configurations and troubleshooting.
• Knowledgeable of network communications of SMTP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP,
FTPS, PING, TRACEROUTE, and Microsoft Active Directory

Education and Experience Required – MUST HAVE ALL REQUIRED EDUCATION AND

• 5+ years’ experience in network communications with a strong emphasis on
trouble-shooting local and wide-area connectivity at network packet layer.
• Must be experienced with Cisco routers, switches and firewalls.
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

Optional Skills:
• Knowledge of Palo Alto Network devices a plus.

Job Responsibilities:
An IT Ops Support Analyst at the specialist level applies developed subject
matter knowledge to solve common and complex business issues within

Independently resolves some highly complex technical issues within a given

appropriate. May act as an Incident Life Cycle coordinator or service
delivery lead to provide resolution for complex issues. Identifies
potential escalations and proactively alerts management, leads escalation
through L4.
• Proactively searches for issues and provides solutions to prevent
problems from occurring in area of responsibility including patch
management.
• Independently reviews, implements and verifies highly complex and high
risk changes and solutions. Mentors other team members.
• Ensures configuration management database entries are complete and
accurate. Orders created from this request shall be governed by the US
Government Master Agreement.
