*The current warehouse resides on physical windows 2008R2 servers. *
*The new environment is a Linux Oracle Real Application Cluster (RAC). *
The project needs a Senior Database Developer/Administrator with EXPERT
knowledge and experience in Database migration.
The ideal candidate should be able to walk into MNDOT, review our current
environment, review the new environment, make recommendations on a
migration solution, and implement a solution.
This is an enterprise-level solution with extremely high business value.
Candidates should be comfortable communicating with and presenting to
groups of experienced professionals on a regular basis.
The candidate should be a high-level expert with knowledge and expertise
with database migrations that will be called upon on a daily basis.
The candidate will be responsible for: The analysis of the current data
warehouse environment.
*Evaluate the different options for setting up the warehouse environment in
a RAC infrastructure. *
*Designing the migration process for the existing Windows 2008R2 Oracle 11G
warehouse to the new Linux Oracle RAC environment. *
Review MNDOT s existing migration tools and make recommendations for
improving performance of the migration process.
Analyze the method of transforming existing data into a format for the new
environment, and the loading of this data into database structures.
Ensuring all interfaces that transfer data to and fr0m the
warehouse/RCA/SAAS are enabled.
Ensuring the scheduled loading routines are converted/managed in the Linux
environment.
Testing the migration process. Validating the migration with business
stewards.
Support additional Operational and Maintenance and system enhancement
requests as required.
Mentor existing database staff on the administration, management, operation
and maintenance of the new data warehouse environment.
*The candidate must have: *
*5 years experience with Oracle 11G. *
*3 years experience with Oracle on Linux. *
*3 years experience setting up databases on RAC. *
Experience with SAN storage systems.
Experience with performance tuning.
Excellent attention to detail capability.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical and technical writing skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
Ability to work well independently or in a team setting.
