Application Performance Management Overview: Senior Performance Test Engineer will support Client's Performance testing objectives; the candidate must be familiar with standard software development and quality processes, methodologies, and tools. Must have a proven track record of very high technical competence, which includes strong coding, scripting skills, Technical leadership, and ability to mentor staff. They will develop high quality detailed test strategy, test plans, results artifacts, identify and create detailed performance test cases, test scripts that map to appropriate requirements and design specifications. The engineer will be responsible for developing and executing extensive application performance tests and analyzing performance of Infrastructure stack and applications. Provide recommendations for optimizations. An individual with a strong background in performance testing and Analyzing multi-tier applications, and web applications is well suited for this position. Knowledge of multiple application infrastructures and strong communication skills are required for this position. Responsibilities: Identify and develop relationships with key individuals and groups Provider leadership, Mentoring and technical oversight within team Maintain current and accurate status of team work assignments Understand functional content of assigned release/projects and the potential performance impacts Understand and validate performance test objectives Optimize test cycle efficiency and effectiveness using automation Maintain a working knowledge of test environment logical and physical software and hardware architectures Ensure application of performance testing best practices at an individual and team level Analyze performance test results and share with business, development and internal team members as appropriate Design and implement the technical infrastructure for performance test automation for each project Maintain the performance test automation environment Investigate and troubleshoot performance problems in the performance testing environments Utilize performance/load testing methodologies to identify software optimization opportunities, potential system bottlenecks and performance problems Monitor and gather the performance statistics during the test execution Create performance documents/artifacts: test plans, test designs, test cases and present testing summary reports Collaborate with performance testing leads, managers, and test members to identify and automate performance tests for specified applications Translate performance specifications/requirements/criteria into effective test designs and test cases Participate in up front application and technology requirement gathering, design and functionality reviews when required, to drive the quantitative definition of performance requirements Participate in the creation and review of performance testing plans, partitioning, test designs and test automation code Install, support, understand, and use the performance testing tools effectively Investigate and troubleshoot performance problems in a lab environment. This will also include analysis of performance problems in a production environment Develop test scenarios to properly load / stress the system in a lab environment and monitor / debug performance & stability problems. This would require monitoring and debugging technical components including key resources, performance indicators and logs Identify performance test data and coordinate the load of the data in the performance environment. Creating & maintaining volume metrics, workload models, and service level objectives. Creating and managing application performance risks. Partnering with development to implement performance best practices. Establishing and ensuring application of performance design principles & patterns. Establishing requirements for performance testing. Reviewing and approving test design and test execution. Providing a single point of contact for performance on projects & engagements. Defining performance monitoring requirements and alert thresholds. Develop performance diagnostic procedures Driving triage of performance-related production incidents. Performing root cause analysis for performance problems. Identifying performance tuning opportunities and remediation options. Providing required input to capacity planning activities. Defining resource utilization thresholds and other policies to support planning efforts. Monitoring and reporting of IT infrastructure demand, utilization, and service levels. Forecasting and modeling future IT infrastructure requirements Application sizing to ensure required service levels can be met. Providing subject matter expertise for projects and initiatives. Qualifications (add bullets if needed): 10+ years experience in the performance testing and engineering discipline 7+ years experience with HP quality and performance test toolset (ALM, QC, LR, QTP, and Performance Center) 7+ years experience with various monitoring technologies (SiteScope, BMC, Perfmon, Opnet, Tivoli) Proven ability to perform profile/baseline, load and stress testing Proven ability to drill down into results and complete deep dive root cause analysis Proven experience and best practices in requirements management, test case development, test analysis and reporting results Additional Skills: Java diagnostics Batch job testing experience Tidal job scheduler Oracle OEM WebSphere mQueue PureApp Liberty WAS EDI Simulation Modeling Performance Engineering ************************************************************************************************************** Creating & maintaining volume metrics, workload models, and service level objectives.
