Job Description: SQL Server DBA (Functional/Application) Location: Jersey City, NJ Duration: 8-12 Mo. Contract There are 2 open positions and all of our people were rejected. So we are back to square one. Would love to have a total of 6 but will get what I can! For the SQL DBA they need the domain to be focused solely on banking. It can’t be a mix of banking and financial. So candidates must have 4 solid recent years of banking Job Description: The SQL Server DBA will ensure that the new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance. This role requires a strong background in writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries, designing tables & picking datatypes, using Profiler traces, and determining whether clustering, log shipping, mirroring, or replication is the best fit. • Provide weekly report to Developers regarding Top 10 Most Resource-Intensive Queries on the Server and suggested performance improvements for each query. • Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes. • Address user performance issues regarding particular queries, and help Developers improve the performance of that query by tweaking it or modifying indexes. • Conduct SQL Server Lunch & Learn Sessions for Application Developers. • Advise Developers on the most efficient database designs, (e.g., tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc.). • Provide on-call troubleshooting for SQL Server service outages as necessary. Qualifications: • 10+ years of Database Administration experience including implementation, code deployments, backups, and creation of user accounts. • 7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA. • Must have Functional & Application DBA experience with SQL Server 2008–2012 databases. • 5+ years administering database platform-specific advanced features, (e.g., clustering, encryption, logical/physical standby, ETL, replication), and performance optimizing of server database servers and SQL code. • 5+ years of experience working in a SQL DBA Role with multiple databases and SQL development experience. • 4+ years of recent Banking domain experience required. • Strong background in writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries • SSIS Package creation and debugging skills. • Stored Procedure development and tuning. • Experience designing tables and picking datatypes. • Experience using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run queries. • Experience using tools like sp_BlitzIndex and DMV queries to answer questions about index usage. • Experience in providing on-call SQL Server service outage troubleshooting. • Exposure to Data replication.
