I've been wanting for quite a while to know how to hack an NVidia driver.
The problem is that I know nothing at all about 3d (or 2d) accelerators or
reverse engineering techniques, and I only know a little about Intel
assembly (although I know the basic, general ideas of assembly languages),
and my C is pretty mediocre. I do have some documentation on the G400 and
Voodoo3 that I haven't tackled yet. I'm willing to learn this stuff (in fact,
I've been trying to find an excuse for some time to force myself to learn it),
but I just don't know where to start. Any advice on getting started?

Also, I was wondering, just out of curiosity, if there is anything around on
the net that would give me a history of different NVidia driver projects.
For instance, I'd like to know how the XFree86 driver(s) and the DirectFB
driver came about. Were they based on the SDK?

In that sentence are a few of the terms I'd like to know. I've heard classes
mentioned before in reference to NVidia; is this some special meaning of
"class"? Not the OO idea of class, I'd assume. I'd also like to know about
what PRAMIN is.

Sorry for the dumb questions :)
