How can I determine which pixel format is the fastest?

Actually, I get confused by the concept of cooperative levels and contexts.

Is it like a mask in the sense of Photoshop?

Really thank you all, JS and Denis, for these valuable suggestions! But
I just don't get the concept of dfb clear. The API is, well, just an
API. I suggest there should be more explanations to various elements,
like cooperative levels, pixel formats, color keying, blitting, etc.

Sorry that I am a newbie to dfb. I would appreciate more tutorial and
information.
