Is there no way to configure DirectFB at runtime / compile-time to have
a rotated display? OPIE and GPE both do it. GPE uses the XRandR
extension. Even the linux console has support for runtime rotation in
2.6.15-rc1. Plenty of other games/apps also do this - eg Mame.

While the fb driver can do this, it is better for it not to, since it
definitely means another shadow buffer is required, and rotating the
entire framebuffer through software is slow. Only when they're
drawn/loaded should fonts/bitmaps/objects be rotated.

Is anyone working on this?

If not, where should I look at putting this in the directfb code? The
framebuffer driver??? The drawing code???

display

Hi!

The rotation option is something supported by your framebuffer driver.
For example, i810fb supports a rotate option.

I don't think DirectFB itself supports a rotate option...

Betreff: [directfb-dev] DirectFB / GTK+DirectFB with a rotated display

Has anyone here gotten DirectFB running with a rotated display? I would
like to run GTK+DFB on an embedded device with an LCD whose native
resolution is 90 degrees rotated from what I'd like.

I've seen some older posts on the list, but not much response regarding
how it can be implemented... Is there something like X's Rand R
extension or some other way of rotating the entire display? I know QT
also supports this, and recently rotation has been added to the linux
framebuffer text console driver.

Any suggestions?
