IIRC, a specific bug (394871) is still open about deadkeys not working, 
but i cannot verify by myself if deadkeys now work, as i don't have the 
necessary knowledge

maybe we should also try this workaround on PPC (i guess on AMD64 it 
makes no difference): any volunteer?

df_input is a really useful tool and i think we should shrink it by 
stripping all references to PNGs and fonts and put it in a 
libdirectfb-tools udeb togheter with dfbinfo.
