Hi Attilio I know why we leak now. Actually I've know for a while just had to drag the problem back up.
I sent a email but here is what we need I think. We need to bump the ref count on the GdkWindow by one and when it hits one we unref the DirectFB window. When we get the destroy notification we drop the ref on the Gdk Window after zeroing all pointers. This way we know DirectFB has released all resources. Since DirectFB can always destroy the window i.e via the WM we should get notified of the event.
