That will be a pretty big change.
I would suggest to look at the git-history, there you will find some
tasks that extend the supported pixelformats, so you will get an idea of
the files you need to touch. It is probably not necessary to implement
full-scale support, but it will still be a big 'patch'.
Can you use DSPF_A8 or DSPF_A4 instead?
