Ok, using a tool I never heard of, rdev, I was able to change the video mode used by vesafb, and know I can start up in 16 bit.
Now the examples all work, hurray ! As my next step, I want to try and play some video on the machine. I see that directfb can use either avifile or libmpeg3. I was wondering if you were considering of adding other video providers as well ? I have problems with both packages supported; avifile has very bad packaging policy (ie none), packaging only snapshots, never doing releases, and being very hard to compile right. libmpeg3 includes all sorts of hacked and modified other packages (mpeg2dec for example), and it now seems to have been removed as a standalone package and moved into cinelerra. Any chance you might think of supporting mpeg2dec and friends directly ? Failing that, would it be hard in your opinion to write a gstreamer plug-in to write to directfb directly ? I know about the gstreamer part, so that bit shouldn't be hard ;) Thomas -- The Dave/Dina Project : future TV today ! - http://davedina.apestaart.org/ <-*- -*-> I say the right things but act the wrong way I like it right here but I cannot stay <-*- [EMAIL PROTECTED] -*-> URGent, the best radio on the Internet - 24/7 ! - http://urgent.rug.ac.be/ -- Info: To unsubscribe send a mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe directfb-users" as subject.
