hmm, looks as if either my or links handling of colors isn't endian-safe.
I had a short look but couln't find the cause of the problem. Could you
try if colors work fine with the links FB graphics driver?

did you stop gpm before starting links-directfb? DirectFB can not
access your mouse if gpm is running. If GPM is not running, DirectFB 
should see your mouse via PS/2 emulation.

there's an option to enable VT switching in the directfbrc (read the
man-page). However I'm not sure if it's working at the moment.
