The README suggests 0.9.12 but newer versions might work, too.

See Documentation/sysrq.txt in the kernel source tree,
important keys are SysRq 'k' to kill the app and set
the keyboard to a usable state (Alt-F1 etc.) and SysRQ 'r'
which does the same except killing the app (for usage
during a gdb session).
