Hi,
I want to develop DirectFB based PVR (Personal Video Recorder). I just want to scan for TV channels and fix it using v4l API's. Then grab the video streams using DirectFB API's (video provider). Scanning the channels is the first step in any PVR and it is executed only once. Then in further execution of PVR only DirectFB API comes into picture.

Is my understanding is correct ?

Unfortunately, you can't access the v4l file descriptor. The video
provider is used in conjunction with the Linux DVB API which includes
tuning etc.

If you want to access the v4l API directly you would have to Release()
the video provider, do e.g. analogue tuning, recreate the v4l provider.
