thanks for your links and rpms. Now it works for me. I have only installed your directfb-0.9.20 and compiled my own mplayer....
I must look deeper in the compile-process of directfb because something is gone wrong on my machine. Most of directfb compiles for my (with the userspace headers from SuSEs glibc and a corrected videodev2.h from the kernelspace (2.6.0). But Im not shure due the trouble with the includes files (userspace/broken i2c and so on...) what is going wrong....

I'm now back to the roots: SuSE 9.0 SuSE 2.4.21-155 kernel with matrox-fb patches SuSE directfb 0.9.16 mplayer from cvs yesterday
with the -nodr option, video seems ok. without -nodr, there are small red/green lines (moire?).
but I haven't found why there is colored garbage overlayerd with kernel 2.6.0 and directfb from cvs. Therefore i wan't to exclude mplayer for testing. Now (in this evening) i will reinstall directfb from cvs and than switching through the kernels....
As you're using SUSE 9.0, you may want to try the RPMs I made here. DirectFB won't compile under SUSE without some modifications:
