Hi,
Within the last days I tried DirectFB. Well I have PII 400Mhz, 512MB RAM and a Matrox G550 graphic card. My distro is archlinux.
Well, I downloaded the latest CVS releases of
DirectFB, Fusion, DFB++, DFBTerm and compiled them.
I modprobe matroxfb, modprobe fusion, and voila I got a 1280x1024x60hz running on my 17" TFT. I ran DFBTerm and finally got directfb running.

and saw that you�ve got gnome running on a patched Xserver.

Great, I thought, let�s download and compile it.
I read the README, supplied with XDirectFB
There the problems started:
Well, xfree86 is needed. According to the </ironieon> overwhelming </ironieoff> manuels for setting up XDirectFB,
1. "Check out module "xc" from XFree CVS (www.xfree.org)"
hm, wait, I should take the latest CVS release of Xfree ??? That could be hardly possible for applying the XDirect patch ?
So I googled a little and found a "gentoo ebuild" for XDirectFB. There the sources of Xfree 4.3.0 are taken.
= I took the sources of Xfree 4.3.0 and tried to apply the XDirect patches and foollowed the rest of the insructions in the README file
=> Didnt work
I took an old release of XDirectFB /XDirectFB-1.0-rc5.tar.gz/
and tried to apply it to xfree 4.3.0, well it seemed to work.
But later on after making the whole thing within the xc directory, make stopped. I dont know the exact output but something like: make has nothing to do within xdirectfb directory
-WELL, as you have probably have successfully compiled XDirectFB, you probably have a script for compiling it. Please, can you send it me via email or post it into this thread ?
-Is Xdirectfb still alive, btw ?
- DEVs, could you please post in detail, what release of XDirectFB is compatible to which release of xfree86 ?
