Lucian and Rob,

I think this was caused by the fact that there were a newer version of xine 
library installed on the same box. After I removed the newer version xine 
library and recompiled the DirectFB-extra, the xineplug_vo_out_dfb.so was 
created within the right place, and the problem was resolved.
