I've set up my own htpc using freevo,sdl,directfb and a Matrox G400 Max. I've gotten Freevo, zsnes and fceu-sdl working and i am overall very pleased. I also changed my cables from compsite to s-video for better picture.
But i have one problem. The menu-items and similar text-elements flicker very much. I've heard that this is due to how interlacing is working and that there's not much to do. Is anyone working on flicker filters for directfb? Are there any way of getting rid of the flickering by changing my fb-mode? For example a friend told me that i could get rid of my problems by using the mode 768x288 instead of 768x576 (PAL) that im using now.
